The Military Museum of Finland, founded in 1929, is the central museum of the Finnish Defence Forces. The museum
- collects, preserves, researches and displays artefacts and other heritage related to the Defence Forces of Finland and Finnish military history
- serves as a specialist and provider of official statements in heritage matters for the Defence Forces, heraldry and the export of museum artefacts
- engages in educational and publishing activities
- serves the Defence Forces, other officials and researchers in the field
- offers information connected to the military history of Finland to the greater public
- oversees and monitors the activities of other military museums and branch heritage rooms located in different parts of Finland
